Diet and Headaches: The Short Response

If your goal is to be headache free, and you want to do so without a daily prescription, then I hope your headaches respond to dietary change.  Why is that?   I don't have any medication that reliably eliminates nearly all your medications.  On the other hand, in those patients who have food as the cause of their headaches, many of them can become almost completely headache free within a few months.  Not everyone is diet responsive, but don't you think it’s worth a try?  I suggest trying a low-fat vegetarian diet first.  If the vegetarian diet doesn't work, or you’re opposed to the idea, then strongly consider a full or partial elimination diet which you’ll find on this page below.

Consider making the diet low salt as well.  Studies suggest that giving some migraine sufferers a salty meal can predictably cause a headache.  I suggest 1,500 mg or less of sodium per day.
